Clovenstone Close Latest
The first Clovenstone Close flats are on EdinIndex this week! If you are interested in bidding, you can do this at any point until 3.30AM on Sunday 26th January. You will need to have a live EdinIndex number to be able to bid. We’ve had quite a few calls and queries so here’s some information about the main questions we’ve had.
- Prospect Preferred means priority will be given to people who are currently Prospect tenants.
- This block does not have a lift. The flats we will advertise in the summer will be in blocks with a lift.
- Some of the flats are being offered to people who approached us about downsizing.
- Some of the flats are going to people who are currently registered homeless starters and were nominated by the council. These allocations are being managed by the council as part of the conditions of the funding that enabled us to purchase these additional 15 properties.
- We will be advertising more flats in the summer, and these will be a mix of Prospect Preferred, Movers, and Starters. You can find out more about these on our website.
The funding we are using for these additional flats has come from Scottish Government and is being administered by Edinburgh Council for the purchase of additional social housing properties. It is part of the response to Edinburgh’s Housing Emergency and is to be used to assist households who are statutorily homeless and in temporary accommodation. The City of Edinburgh Council declared a Housing Emergency in November 2023 when despite significantly increasing the homeless budget, there were still around 5,000 households living in temporary accommodation. With several other local authorities following suit, Scottish Government have implemented a range of measures including the Acquisition Fund designed to tackle the issue and reduce homelessness.
