Job Title: Trainee Administrative Officer
Type: Modern Apprenticeship
Contract: Fixed Term – 24 months
Anticipated start date – December 2024/January 2025.
Hours per week: 35

- £21,084 per annum (Cost of living increase in April 25 and April 26)

Prospect Community Housing, 6 Westburn Avenue, Edinburgh, EH14 2TH. We are the local housing provider for Wester Hailes, and own just under 900 properties and are currently building more homes. We are actively involved with local community initiatives.

Our experience of offering modern apprenticeships
This will be our third modern apprenticeship. Our first has now been with Prospect for nearly five years and is a permanent member of staff. Our second is in the second year of their apprenticeship. Both have been valuable additions to our staff team.
What might a day in this role look like?
You will be part of a busy front office team who deal with reactive maintenance for our properties, voids and other administration and secretarial duties. Your day will consist of answering telephones and dealing with customers face to face who come into the office. You will raise jobs for repairs and inspections, record and help resolve complaints.
What will I learn?
- SVQ Level 3 in Business and Administration at SCQF Level 6
- Industry related training (i.e. MS Office / Customer Service).
- Soft Skills (e.g. communication, teamwork, problem solving, etc)
A career in housing
This apprenticeship will set you up well for a career in housing. If the apprenticeship is successfully completed then there is the possibility of permanent employment being offered. The current base salary for this post is £29,086. We would then offer further training leading to housing specific qualifications.
What qualifications/skills are required?
- At least one higher, preferably in a related subject
- National 5 in English and Maths
- Experience using MS Office Excel and Word is desirable
- Confident, positive attitude, team player, good communication skills and reliable
- Funding for this modern apprenticeship is available for candidates between the age of 16-24
