Local People Still Lead

As a community based housing association, we were really pleased to see the ongoing strength of locally led associations in Scotland. It is important to us that our governance is locally led, and we take a proactive approach to ensuring that we have a majority of tenant members on our committee. So it was very encouraging to read the recent report published by the Glasgow and South West Forum of Housing Associations which showed that this is a situation reflected within the community based housing association movement as a whole. Local representation remains strong over the last few years despite the challenges of recruiting and retaining governing body members, We take a proactive approach to maintaining this balance. Recruitment for us is an ongoing process, with ongoing support and training for new and existing committee members.

Glasgow and West of Scotland Forum of Housing Associations is the membership body for community led housing associations and co-operatives in west central Scotland. However although Prospect is based in the East of Scotland, due to our community led status we are members of GWSF which gives us access to sharing information and mutual support with other community led associations.
