Moving From ESA to Universal Credit

People who get ESA are moving to Universal Credit. We're encouraging tenants to look out for their letter from the DWP. The letter will ask you to migrate to UC. The letter will be from the DWP and will arrive between now and December 2025.
It's important to wait for your letter before you do anything. You should not apply for Universal Credit before the DWP tells you to as you might lose out on transitional payments to help you as you change benefit.
Once your letter arrives, it's important to follow the instructions in it and apply for Universal Credit. There will be a deadline in your letter so don't ignore it or forget to apply, or you might lose out on benefit payments.
If you are a Prospect tenant, our welfare rights officer Fiona McLuckie can help you with advice and with applying for Universal Credit. You can phone/ text/ WhatsApp her on 07908 951297, or email her fiona.mcluckie@prospectch.org.uk
